Cousins

For the past 50 years, the Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale has served as an axis of political, cultural, and social exchange between Black Yale students and community members. As a celebration of The Center’s rich history in the Yale and New Haven Community, the Yale School of Art presents Cousins, a multidisciplinary MFA experience. Reflecting on the past 50 years and setting the stage for the next 50, the goal of the exhibition is to First, inspire cross-campus conversation and collaboration among black artists and thinkers at Yale. Second, we seek to encourage future generations to continue to build on this conversation.

Presented by 28 collaborating Yale School of Art MFA students, Cousins is an art exhibition that calls The Center home. This show recognizes the legacy of Black experiences that have impacted Yale University. This is the third art exhibition of all Black MFA students in the history of the university and the first MFA exhibition to be held at the Afro-American Cultural Center. The exhibition will create a multimedia art experience open to the School of Art and the wider Yale community.

The exhibition is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and open every day to Yale community members with an ID.
